Circa: August 1936 - January 1937. Fiesta
mixing bowl lids were the first piece cut from production. Within six months of production, before turquoise glaze was even devloped they were discontinued— cut before the 12" divided plate or the covered onion soup bowl. Owning any is a rare treat and I know few collectors who have completed the whole set of twenty! This version in red for the #2 sized bowl is in excellent condition. Please note a small, light glaze patch on the edge of the rim (shown in the 8th picture at about 4'oclock), and next to the glaze skip is one small spot that is rough to the touch but still full of color (5 o'clock, 8th picture). Very light wear to the top from gentle use, but obviously gently cared for. Nice even glaze, minus the one small spot. Lid would have been fully glazed, fired twice with the knob hand tooled. Measures 6 1/6" across. Produced for a scant six months, the mixing bowl lid is highly coveted and this example in original red will be highly a delight to add to your collection or as a very special gift for the fiesta collector.
