Circa January 1938: Of all the south west themes decorating the American tableware of the 30s and 40s it was the Mexicana version that was an immediate smash hit. First exhibited in July of 1937 at the House Furnishing Show, its popularity steadily grew. From a trade ad Homer Laughlin describes its Mexicana china as "smart, colorful and attractive. It embodies the old-world atmosphere of Mexico with the modern verve and personality which is so appealing to American housewives."
