Circa 1940-1943: The promotional campaigns put on by Homer Laughlin Pottery Company introduced some lovely art pottery pieces with unusual design and shape, outside the standard fare of the dinnertable and into the realm of something more unique, quirky and special. The figure 8 tray and sugar creamer set is no exception and is a delight to the collector, especially in the hard to find and rare turquoise glaze. It is thought that the turquoise trays were special order items and were not produced for mass consumption! Slip cast and ink stamped under the glaze "GENUINE fiesta HLCo USA". This example in the rare tuquoise boasts excellent condition without the common scratches usually found on the tray. Please note slightly thick glaze on the inside bottom edge, but the great shine and smooth surface are what counts on this nice rare piece. Hand picked from a large estate and guaranteed to please.
